  • 48 College Hours or an Associate Degree or Successful completion of Work Keys Assessment
  • Meet Moss Point School District and NCLB Highly Qualified Paraprofessional requirements.
  • Speak and write in Spanish
  • Valid Drivers license, reliable transportation, proper auto insurance coverage
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of instructional strategies  specific to the needs of English Language learners.
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with small groups of students in a tutoring setting.
  • Ability to perform instructional clerical tasks, keep records and prepare reports.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with using computer programs Microsoft Office

JOB GOAL:      To provide instructional support to English Learner students.


Federal Program Responsibilities

  1. Providing practice and support to English Language Learner Students in the acquisition of English language skills and academic concept development.
  2. Assisting students individually and in small groups.
  3. Assisting with the organization, preparation, and assembly of ELL materials and assessments.
  4. Attend and participate in trainings and meetings
  5. Support and positively represent the scope of program responsibilities to staff and the community.
  6. Maintaining appropriate and required documentation on every ELL students.
  7. Serving as a liaison between the EL student, his/her family and the school, especially with respect to cultural and language differences, and providing cross-cultural information to all parties that foster positive relationships.
  8. Assisting in the monitoring of the progress of EL students in all aspects of his/her academic schedule and their participation in all school activities and programs to promote or advocate for their participation as appropriate.
  9. Participating in school staff development opportunities that enhance the knowledge of the mainstream curriculum in order to know how those relate to ELL and how to adapt or incorporate them into ELL instruction.
  10. Participating in all meetings within the district when representation of ELL is needed and appropriate.
  11. Performing such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the program administrator or designee may assign.
